Introduction

In the era of globalization and regional integration, cross-cultural communication and seamless information exchange have become indispensable core requirements for public, private, and international organizations. The Bachelor's Degree Program in English for Translation at the Faculty of Arts, Humanities & Languages is a meticulously designed four-year curriculum (comprising 8 semesters and 120 credits) based on Outcome-Based Education (OBE) and aligned with Level 6 of the Cambodian National Qualifications Framework. The program integrates advanced English language proficiency, translation and interpretation theory and techniques, as well as foundational knowledge in public administration, Khmer studies, and intercultural communication to effectively respond to national and regional labor market demands.

Objective

This program aims to cultivate proficient language specialists and professional translators equipped with academic excellence, high professional ethics, and confidentiality standards. It focuses on enhancing students' ability to accurately translate and interpret between English and Khmer, utilize Computer-Assisted Translation (CAT) tools and software, and develop analytical thinking, research methods, and collaborative teamwork skills, thereby preparing graduates to confidently excel as translators, interpreters, public relations officers, diplomats, or language educators in various sectors.

Introduction

In the era of globalization and the opening of economic and cultural horizons, translation plays an indispensable role as a bridge connecting public institutions, private sectors, and international organizations. The Associate Degree Program in English for Translation, offered by the Faculty of Arts, Humanities & Languages, is developed in alignment with the Cambodian National Qualifications Framework (Level 5), spanning 2 academic years across 4 semesters (totaling 60 credits and 18 courses). The curriculum integrates advanced English language proficiency, writing skills, literature, cultural studies, and practical translation techniques to effectively respond to the demands of the national and international labor markets.

Objective

This program aims to cultivate students' language proficiency and practical translation capabilities in both written translation and oral interpretation, while providing foundational knowledge in public administration, Khmer studies, and cross-cultural concepts. Furthermore, it seeks to enhance analytical thinking, problem-solving in technical terminology, the use of digital translation tools, and adherence to professional ethics, preparing graduates to work as translators, administrative assistants, or communication staff, or to pursue further bachelor's degree studies.
